About Practice:
Ray Dall’Osto was a partner and currently is "of counsel" with the law firm of Gimbel, Reilly, Guerin & Brown LLP in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His practice concentrates in white collar and federal and state criminal defense, civil litigation, personal injury, employment, constitutional rights and defense of regulatory enforcement matters, including professional licensing, ethics and discipline cases involving health care providers and attorneys.
Mr. Dall’Osto received his law degree from Marquette University Law School in 1977, and taught the criminal defense clinic there as an adjunct professor from 1985 to 1990. Before going into private practice, he served as the Legal Director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Wisconsin, then as a felony trial attorney and director of the Wisconsin State Public Defender office in Milwaukee. Ray has also served on the State Bar’s Board of Governors, the Professional Ethics Committee, as a director and chairperson of the State Bar Sections on Criminal Law and Individual Rights, and as a Fee Arbitrator.
Ray was appointed as a member of the Wisconsin Legislature’s Wrongful Conviction Task Force, helping to formulate and draft significant criminal procedure, interrogation and fair identification reforms, which were enacted into law in 2005. He subsequently presented proposals for implementing more fair and reliable identification procedures at the National Symposium on Eyewitness Identification at Loyola in Chicago in 2006. He remains active in criminal justice, expungement, exonerated compensation and sentencing reform efforts.
Over the years, Mr. Dall’Osto has lectured at many continuing legal education programs, on criminal law and procedure, constitutional rights, justice reform and legal ethics issues. He has also taught at the University of Wisconsin Law School trial practice program, as well as at Marquette Law School.
